Seasonal Conservation Education Specialist

Reports to: Curator of Animal Care and Conservation Education

Job Classification: Part-time, seasonal position (0-25 hours/week)

Job Purpose: Assist in and lead educational programing and live animal programs, including but not limited to onsite programs, offsite programs early childhood, summer camp, and summer camp programming.

Conservation Education Department Camp Counselor

Reports to: Conservation Education Manager

Job Classification: Seasonal / Full-time

Start Date: Camp runs Monday – Friday from June 21 – August 20, 2021

Job Purpose: The primary responsibility of a Camp Counselor position at the Racine Zoo is to create a fun and engaging summer camp experience for our guests. This includes interacting with the campers (ages 3-13), overseeing the day to day operations of the summer camp, creating unique educational opportunities and providing information about our animals and exhibits. The Camp Counselor is responsible for ensuring guest and animal safety, while assisting with summer camp and working in various public positions throughout the Zoo.

Racine Zoo AmeriCorps Program Member

Reports to: AmeriCorps Program Coordinator

Start/End Date: August 23, 2021 through June 3, 2022

Job Purpose: The primary responsibility of an AmeriCorps program member is to provide direct services to Racine Zoo AmeriCorps program participants via educational interpretive programming, as well as effective delivery of pre- and post-intervention assessments. You will assist in creation and delivery of educational interpretive programming as well as animal handling and assist in maintenance of trained behaviors. You will facilitate volunteer recruitment and training and write reflections on service for Zoo and AmeriCorps publications. You'll also need to act as a positive role model to students in the Racine Zoo AmeriCorps program.

Food Service Worker in the Grill

Reports to: Operations Manager

Job Classification: Seasonal / Part time

Job Purpose: We are looking for someone with a friendly and outgoing personality that is motivated for excellence and is not afraid to work hard. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for the Racine Zoo guests in our food service locations. Tasks include opening and closing duties, running the register, preparing food items, maintaining a clean environment throughout the building, excellent communication with the leadership team and excellent customer service to our guests.
