Educational Programs

Spend a few minutes with a member of the Racine Zoo's Animal Care and Education staff, learning and asking questions about your favorite Zoo animals. 

11:30 a.m. – Rhino Chat: Visit our Eastern Black Rhinoceros and learn from Zoo staff what it takes to care for an animal that weighs over a ton. 12:30 p.m. – Creature Feature Connect to nature face-to-face and meet one of our ambassador animals up close!

1:30 p.m. – Big Cat Chat: Join Zoo staff at our Cat Canyon exhibit to learn more about the Zoo’s big cats.

2:00 p.m. – Wildlife Theater: Meet two live animal ambassadors in these hands-on educational program. From Desert Dwellers to Scales and Tails, each themed program is unique and exciting!

2:30 p.m. – Primate Chat: Visit our primates outside our Vanishing Kingdom exhibits to learn about some of the most intelligent animals in the Zoo.

3:30 p.m. – Wildlife Theater: Meet two live animal ambassadors in these hands-on educational program. From Desert Dwellers to Scales and Tails, each themed program is unique and exciting!

4:00 p.m. – Bat Chat: Learn what makes our Straw-colored fruit bats incredible in the Benstead Discovery Center and find out why they gather in flocks of thousands across eastern Africa!


Benstead Discovery Center

The Benstead Discovery Center is located near the Zoo entrance across from the Zootique. Visit with and learn about reptiles and amphibians from around the world. Plus, check out our aquarium and the bat exhibit.


North Shore Bank Giraffe Encounters

Feedings are available daily:

11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.

Come face-to-face with the world's tallest land animal. Feedings are supervised by animal care specialists who can answer questions and share information about Mac and Jabari, the Zoo’s two Masai giraffes
Feedings are available on a first come, first served basis and have limited availability. Tickets are just $5.00.
Giraffe encounters are weather dependent.


Barnyard Safari

Closed for the winter.

This isn't your typical barnyard!  Our new immersive Barnyard Safari exhibit promises to deliver plenty of hands-on animal interaction for kids and adults alike.  Learn more about the various species of domestic animals from around the world including Tunis sheep, miniature pigs, Nigerian dwarf goats, llamas, and alpacas


Aviary

Open Daily: 
May 25 – Labor Day, September 2, 2019

10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

This immersive and interactive exhibit allows guests to become a member of a flock of parakeets by entering an open-air aviary. Have the birds eat right from your hands! Purchase a seed stick for $3.00.


PlayZoo Playground

Modeled to resemble an actual zoo, the PlayZoo features some truly exciting elements including a two-story tall structure with three slides, lots of climbing opportunities and even a miniature zip line! The PlayZoo is further subdivided so that 2 to 5-year-olds and 5 to 12-year-olds can play to their hearts' content on equipment designed specifically for their abilities. Conveniently situated in the Charles & Jennifer Johnson Land of the Giants, this feature is the perfect place for you to relax while the kids let their imaginations run wild!


Robinson Crusoe Adventureland Playground

Adjacent to Barnyard Safari, take a break and let the kids run and play at the Zoo’s wheelchair-friendly playground.


Zoo Choo Express

Closed for 2019

This colorful miniature express train is a big hit with children and adults alike. Tickets are $3.00 per rider & children 2 and younger travel for free with a paid adult.
