Celebrate Spring in Egg-straordinary Style!
The Racine Zoo to Host Egg-stravaganza
Racine – The Racine Zoo will host its 9th annual Egg-stravaganza on Zoo campus Saturday, March 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for kids ages two to ten. The Zoo’s Main Street entrance will open at 10:00 am with scheduled activities that conclude at 12:00 p.m.
Children and parents are invited to visit various activity stations featuring crafts and art projects as well as have up-close animal encounters with the Racine Zoo Animal Ambassadors. Children will also be invited to meet the Easter Bunny.
Highlights at the activity stations include cookie decorating with the professionals from O & H Danish Bakery, viewing of heirloom-quality display eggs from a private collection, photo opportunities at the HP Photo Center, participation in a unique art project at the Noodles & Company craft station. Plus, Easter egg scrambles for various age groups begin at 10:15 a.m. Each child will receive a bag to collect his or her crafts and treats to take home.
The winter admission prices for the Zoo are: free for members, free for kids under 3, $1.00 for kids 3-15, $1.50 for seniors and $2.00 for adults. Children participating in Egg-stravaganza festivities will pay a nominal additional $3.00 fee for their “Egg-spress Pass” to each of the stations. Participation in the event is free, however, for children of Racine Zoo members. Membership cards must be presented at the entrance and at the “Egg-spress Pass” station inside the Zoo.
Sponsors for Egg-stravaganza include: SC Johnson, The Journal Times, Noodles & Company, Nelson’s Variety, O & H Danish Bakery, HP, Jelly Belly Candy Company, Cadbury Schweppes Bottling Group, Sam’s Club and Dairy Queen on Washington Ave. All proceeds will benefit the Racine Zoo.

The Racine Zoo is open daily. Hours between Labor Day and Memorial Day are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – with the Zoo having a special opening time of 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, as preparations are being made for Egg-stravaganza. The mission of the Racine Zoological Society is to foster an enlightening and affordable wildlife experience that improves the bond between people and nature. The Society will provide for the recreation and education of the people, the conservation of wildlife and wild places, and the advancement of science.
