The four lion cubs have names! The four lion cub born on September 6, 2007 were named on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Racine Zoo´s "Cookies and Cocoa with the Cubs" event.

The female cub was named Kaya by Cheri Rasmussen. It means diamond in the sky.

The event, presented by Johnson Bank and the Young Professionals of Racine was held in the historic Vanishing Kingdom building. Along with enjoying the playful cubs, guests had the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa, make a holiday craft to take home and learn more about large cats at the Zoo´s educational touch table.

The lion cubs´ names were selected as part of the Pride of Racine Name the Cubs contest presented by Johnson Bank and The Journal Times. Contestants were encouraged to make a $1 donation to the Racine Zoo along with their entry to assist in the care for the cubs.
