Racine – The Racine Zoo will host its 11th annual Egg-stravaganza on the Zoo campus Saturday, March 27 for kids ages three to ten. The Zoo’s entrance at the corner of Main Street and Goold Street will open at 10:00 a.m. with scheduled activities beginning when the gates open and concluding at 1:00 p.m. Due to the extraordinary success and positive response to 2009’s event, the new set up with activities and entertainment assembled in the lawn area in front of the Vanishing Kingdom historic building will continue.
Children and parents are invited to visit various activity stations featuring arts and crafts projects as well as up-close animal encounters with the Racine Zoo Animal Ambassadors. Children will also be invited to meet the Easter Bunny.
Activity stations are hosted by area business and community groups with the number of stations reaching nearly 20. DJ Spoons will be on-hand to provide music for Egg-stravaganza guests. Each child will receive a bag to collect his or her crafts and treats to take home.
“With the support of the community and the presenting sponsorship of Twin Disc, we were able to add a number of enhancements to an already great event. We are thrilled to host this event, in its 11th year, for area children and their families. We know that folks who attend often view this as a kick-off to spring,” said Jay Christie, President and CEO.
The admission prices for the Zoo are: free for members, free for kids under three, $2.00 for kids 3-15, $3.00 for seniors and $4.00 for adults. Children participating in Egg-stravaganza festivities will pay a nominal additional $3.00 fee for their “Egg-spress Pass” that allows them to visit each of the stations. Participation in the event is $1.00, however, for children of Racine Zoo members and of Twin Disc Employees. Membership cards from Zoo members and badges from Twin Disc employees must be presented in order to receive the special pricing.
