Teaching Kits and Curriculum Guides
Anyone who teaches children can check out one of
our curriculum guides. A $50 deposit is required when checking out a
curriculum guide. It will be returned in full once the complete kit
is returned.
Africa Kit
Discover one of the most exciting continents on the
planet. Learn about the people, geography, and animals of Africa. The
kit includes several trade books and a large activity packet. This is
great as a unit by itself or a supplement to an already existing unit.
This kit is most suitable for grades 2-4 and is provided by the Junior
League of Racine.
Wildlife Trade Kit
The Wildlife Trade Educational Kit is designed to
raise awareness about wildlife trade. Students will learn how to become
wise consumers by avoiding purchases that may damage wildlife. This
curriculum is appropriate for grades 6 and above. This kit is provided
by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Realm of the Tiger
Using the Realm of the Tiger curriculum, students
will learn how to classify animals, what biomes tigers live in, what is
essential to tiger survival, how many tigers can live in an area, tiger
adaptations, predator-prey relationships, life cycles, how scientist
learn about tigers, as well as tiger conservation issues. Lessons are
easily adapted for all ages but are most appropriate for grades 4-8.
The kit includes hands-on lessons, many color transparencies, posters,
videos, reproducibles, and a teacher guidebook. This kit is provided by
National Geographic Society.
Far Traveler: A Teacher's Companion to Red Wolf Recovery
This curriculum guide provides children with an
opportunity to investigate the issues of biodiversity and conservation
in Southeastern United States. Human attitudes toward large predators
are also explored. This guide strives to dispel myths and eliminate
fears that hinder the conservation efforts for the red wolf. The kit
includes many hands-on lessons, reproducibles, and teacher background
information. This curriculum guide is provided by the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service. The red wolf recovery curriculum is appropriate for
grades 1-5.
Oceans Resource Kit
While using the Ocean resource kit, children will
study the ocean in depth. Several of the learning themes are the water
cycle, ocean geography, currents and tides, animals of the ocean, food
chains, ocean animal adaptations, ecosystems of the ocean and many
more. The kit includes hands-on lessons, many color transparencies,
posters, videos, reproducibles, and a teacher guidebook. Oceans
Resource Kit is provided by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Coral Reef Resource Kit
Lesson plans are provided for grades kindergarten
through 8. Students will explore the various animals of a coral reef,
where reefs are located, threats to reefs, and benefits of reefs. The
kit comes with posters, color transparencies, and very informative
background knowledge. This kit is provided by the Association of Zoos
and Aquariums.
