Special Events > Safari Saturdays

Families are encouraged to enjoy these FREE (with paid Zoo admission) events having fun, interacting and learning about animals, conservation and more!

Pick up a Passport during your first Safari Saturday experience and bring it back each time you come in order to collect special Safari stamps. At the end of the summer, enjoy special prizes awarded for the number of stamps collected!

All activities are from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

June 5: Julie the Patas Monkey’s Birthday Bash
Help Julie celebrate her birthday with fun activities like face painting, crafts, music, cake and more! At 28, she’s the oldest living Patas monkey in North America – and possibly the world!

June 12: Encounters of the Creepy Crawly Kind featuring Mad Science
Learn about insects, amphibians and reptiles with a Zookeeper plus get “hands on” with fun experiments with “Mad Scientists.”

June 19: Racine Zoo World Tour
Enjoy the world, right here in Racine! Learn more about our animals and enjoy cultural experiences relating to the animals’ native lands.

June 26: Buggin’ Out: Racine Arts Council and Wustum Bug Activity Day – 11:00am – 2:00 pm
Get up close with our tiny friends and participate in a bug related craft hosted by RAM’S
Wustum Museum Art Educators.

July 3: Red, White, and Zoo! Fourth of July Celebration
Enjoy games, activities, crafts, face painting, music by DJ Spoons, cookie decorating with O & H Danish Bakery and more! Old fashion fun for all ages.

July 10: Safety Day
Don’t miss this important and educational day at the Zoo! Get safety hints, tips and information that will benefit the entire family! Presented by Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints

July 17: Teddy Bear Check-up
Hey, Teddy – Say, “Ahhhh.” Bring your favorite stuffed animal to the Zoo to receive a clean bill of health after a check up with a health care professional. Presented by Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints

July 24: Touch a Truck Day
Bring the whole family out for an exciting afternoon with huge trucks! Experience these giant wheels in a whole new way!

July 31: Bo and Mac the Giraffes’ Birthday Bonanza
Sing “Happy Birthday” to the Zoo’s resident Masai giraffes, Bo and Mac and enjoy their party complete with face painting, crafts, music cake and music from the eco-friendly Chick-a-Dees music group! Presented by R. W. Baird & Co.

August 7: ZooperSized Story Time with the Animals
Enjoy an children’s animal story read by a local celebrity and, after each reading, guests can get up close with some of the wild animals found in the stories.

August 14: Sports Spectacular
The perfect day for sports fanatics! Meet and get autographs and tips from local athletes, the Milwaukee Brewer’s Racing Sausages (11:00am), Roscoe from the Admirals and other sports celebrities!

August 21: If I Ran the Zoo Tour 11:00am
Get an expert’s point of view touring the Zoo with President and CEO, Jay R. Christie!

August 28: On the Lookout: Tour with Zoo’s Master Gardeners and Audubon Society – 11:00am
Learn all about the beautiful gardens here at the Zoo from our Master Gardeners. Afterwards, explore the Zoo with the Hoy Audubon Society and learn what birds enjoy hanging out at the Zoo.

September 4: Zoovie – 8:00pm
Bring a blanket and snacks and enjoy a feature film outdoors with beautiful Lake Michigan as the backdrop. Presented by Educators Credit Union and The Party Company.
