Kids And Education > Racine Zoo Summer Camp > Camp Program Descriptions Racine Zoo 2010 Summer Camp Program Descriptions Age 3 Ages 4 & 5 July 12-16: Where the Wild Things Are: A wonderful world unfolds as campers learn where the “wild things” live. Habitats are investigated from a small to large scale. August 2-6: I Like to Move It: Get up on your feet and move your body to the beat of the wild! Explore how animals use color, smells, touch and movement as forms of communication. Grades 1 & 2 July 19-23: Zoo’s Clues: Boy have we got a lot of paw prints! Discover the clues from some of our most amazing animals throughout the Zoo. Everyday campers will look for clues to help uncover the animals’ identities. August 2-6: Critter Connections: See the animal world in a new way, through the eyes of an animal! Connect with creatures by learning how they find food, avoid predators, and raise their families. Also find out what animals play “Bob the Builder” when it comes to creating their homes. August 16-20: Wild Wisconsin: This whole week is dedicated to the wonderful state we call home. Enjoy days filled with dedication to Lake Michigan and conservation efforts, different animal habitats in Wisconsin and the farming industry. Get ready to have a moo-velous time! Grades 3-4 July 19-23: Racine Rangers: Campers explore the natural world through fun science experiments including learning about pollution, water quality, and geology. Learn how animals are able to flourish despite these conditions. August 9-13: Comic Creatures: What makes a hero, heroic? What’s so wicked about villains? Get ready to meet and learn about sensational “spider-man”, brave as a “bat-man”, “teenage mutant ninja turtles” and other comic creatures of the animal world. Create your own adventure with your favorite super hero. Grades 5-6 July 12-16: Saving Wildlife and Wild Places: … is our motto here at the Zoo! What are zoos all around the world doing to protect wild animals, plants and the habitats they need to survive? Campers will discover answers to these questions as well as some of the challenges zoos and wildlife face every day. July 26-30: It’s All Connected: Plants, animals and people are all connected. Spend the week learning about how our survival depends on all living things around us and examine the complex food chain of life. August 9-13: CSI: Wildlife: Tracks, scat, feathers, fur and lots of evidence found at a “critter scene” can be revealing and helpful.
